because you can hear noises I'd say... it could be the clutch pressure plate spring has failed and the clutch if constantly engaged. it could be the pivot for the arm that pushes the thrust race (clutch bearing) onto the spring of the pressure plate. sometimes the top of the pivot can break off. This would also stop the clutch from disengaging. or it could be the the arm.
I think you can pull the boot back and with a torch you might be able to eliminate some of them.
